What to expect at a cooking demo by Joni

Join Joni at Atherton Appliance (Redwood City) and Williams-Sonoma (Los Gatos and Stanford) where she will do food demonstrations with fresh produce (that she will purchase at the Farmer’s Market before each cooking demo).

Here’s what to expect during a cooking demo:

  • learn how to cook healthfully and efficiently
  • be inspired to go outside the box (outside a recipe) to recreate a dish based on your own palette, health needs
  • get a new understanding of the science of cooking

Beginners and intermediate chefs

  • a new chef will learn some basic skills, such as knife skills, how to make sauces, soups and meal planning
  • an experienced chef will be inspired to try different techniques, using different products and/or gadgets, and how to recreate a favorite recipe so that it’s more healthy and in line with specific health needs

During the cooking demo Joni will focus on:

  • the applied science of healthy deliciousness
  • all dayparts, including: drinks, soups, side dishes, main entrees, breakfast, lunch and dinners
  • various small appliances and gadgets
  • cooking techniques, science of cooking and how to build flavors
  • improvisational cooking
  • cooking with colors, textures, shapes and sizes
  • nutrition, cooking for specific health needs
  • recipes for raw, vegan, vegetarian, macrobiotic and paleolithic diets
