This is a team building session with a scavenger hunt (see below), staged in the kitchen. Getting to know the kitchen and ingredients from a chef’s point of view.
Here’s a timeline for a previous group:
2:30 – 3pm: Arrival, introductions.
3:00: Do scavenger hunt in teams of 2 or 3 people.
3:20: Make 3 dishes, in teams of 2 or 3, each person will get a handout of the recipes:
- veggie soup (knife skills, stove top, Vitamix)
- salad (knife skills, stove top, oven, gadgets)
- dessert (blending: food processor, Vitamix)
4:30pm: eat, I’ll talk about cooking techniques, what they learned, cooking/eating for health and more. Meal will be served buffet style.
5:30 – 6pm: departure
The ingredients will be based on the likes and dislikes of the group, including vegan choices.
The scavenger hunt: getting to know the kitchen and ingredients
Each team will need to find a gadget or food ingredient to be used in their recipe.
Each team will get a print out of a photo that shows a cupboard, a drawer, fridge.
They will go to that location and find another photo that shows a cupboard, a drawer, fridge. They will then go to that second location and will find another photo that shows a cupboard, a drawer, fridge, they will then go to that third location and find the item they are looking for.
The item will be clearly marked.
Each team will be led to different parts of the kitchen, pantry, fridge/freezer. As they are going through cupboards, drawers, the fridge – they will need to take note of what is in each location because I will talk about it later, pointing out specifics of each location.
